Top golfers gather at Houghton Golf Club for Fortress Invitational
A lucrative purse and rookie bonus draws the Sunshine Tour's best players to Johannesburg for four days of competitive play.
Professional golfers have converged on Houghton Golf Club in Johannesburg for the fifth edition of the Fortress Invitational, which runs until October 11.
The event brings together established stars and emerging talent on South Africa’s premier professional circuit.
All top 10 players on the Courier Guy Order of Merit are in action, alongside nine of the top 10 contenders in the Fortress Rookie of the Year standings.

A prize purse of R2.5m is up for grabs, with an additional R400 000 bonus offered to the leading rookie player.

Former winners Robin Williams and defending champion Warwick Purchase have both used the event as a springboard, with Williams advancing to the DP World Tour.
Rookies, including Cole Stevens, Benjamin Kedochim, Agustin Errazuriz, Daniel Cronje and Travis Procter, have entered the tournament in fine form following impressive recent performances.
Four competitive rounds will determine who lifts the trophy on Sunday.
