Why you should vote for P.H. Fat to open the city
JOBURG – THE race for the band that will open the Vodacom In The City festival is on!
After an intense judging session, this year’s panel whittled down the entries to four finalists: P.H. Fat, The Kiffness, The Plastics, and Bye Beneco.
It is now up to music fans to decide which of these four bands will be named the Open The City winner and share the stage with international headliners including MGMT at Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown, on 3 October.
Electro rappers P.H. Fat (Mike Zietsman and Nazieg Iseppi) told City Buzz why they should be chosen to Open the City:

Why should people vote for you to Open the City?
[People should vote for us] because we spend our time making entertaining rap shows and not trying to get people to vote for stuff (which isn’t to say we don’t appreciate the format of the contest. We just aren’t very good at it. It’s also why we would make sh*tty politicians).If you are chosen to Open the City, what can fans expect from your set?
A series of interpretive dances choreographed to 8-bit versions of our favourite Boys2Men songs, and Mike doing a karaoke cover of Celine Dion’s My Heart will Go On. We might try get Mariah Carey to feature on a track we wrote about how we only eat food that falls off trees because we don’t think it’s nice to hurt stuff (even plants). We might also put on a rap show that leaves cracks in the nearby buildings’ foundations.
Three of the four finalist bands are based in Cape Town. Is it time for P.H. Fat to consider moving to Joburg?
Um… I would say that, either the judging panel is biased, or Cape Town bands are just cooler… (Oh no he didn’t!) (Oh yes he did!)
