What to look forward to in 2015
JOHANNESBURG – Here's a list of what film and theatre lovers can look forward to this year.
The Bioscope, situated in Joburg’s up-and-coming Maboneng Precinct, currently plays an important role in the city by providing cinema-goers with the independent cinema experience – rarely found in and around the Joburg North areas today.
This independently owned movie house does not play the big screen premier movies, but rather a selection of interesting, compelling, eye-opening and not-so-mainstream films that struggle to gain commercial recognition.
The Bioscope will be starting the year with a film festival, Best Movies of 2014, beginning on 7 January and ending on 16 January.
The Foxwood Theatre is a small and intimate theatre situated inside the boutique hotel, Foxwood House.
It has been the platform on which many well-known and unknown performers have been able to showcase their talent.
This year at the Foxwood Theatre showcase Dorothy Ann Gould and her troupe of players who bring a selection of Shakespeare to delightful life in the magical Foxwood gardens, with a show, Shakespeare in the Garden.
This performance will only be on for two nights – 24 January at 5.30pm and 25 January at 12.00pm
Headmaster! Headmaster! with Neil Jardine is the second show in the line-up at the Foxwood Theatre for January. You’ve read the books and seen the movies told from the schoolboy’s point of view, now you can experience life at a private boys boarding school from the headmaster’s point of view.
This show will begin on 31 January and end on 8 February, with shows only on Saturdays and Sundays.
