POPArt stands up for stand-up comedy
MABONENG - POPArt, situated in the trendy Maboneng Precinct kicked off its first The Box Stand Up Comedy showcase with a bang.
The show was hosted by none other than international comedian and Comedy Central ambassador, Chris Forrest.
The line-up included David Kibuuka, Eric Jansen, Muzi Dlamini, Mojak Lehoko and Glen Biderman – each being in tune with the other performers and feeding off jokes from the acts preceding their own.
All six comedians zoned in on four young men in the front row, continually referring to them as the famous boy band, One Direction, and using them as the butt of every opening joke.
The audience members gave the comedians a standing ovation at the end of the night and by the excited murmurs before and after the show it can be concluded that the first The Box Stand Up Comedy night was a great success.
