BRAAMFONTEIN – Nowhere can the story of South Africa’s turbulent past and its extraordinary transition to democracy be told as it is at Constitution Hill.

These areas host gripping exhibitions with themes that reveal South Africa’s rich heritage and advocate human rights.

Situated on a hill in Braamfontein overlooking the bustling Johannesburg city and the fostered suburbs, Constitution Hill provides a unique perspective of Johannesburg and its rich history going back to 1892.

A place that was notorious for its harsh treatment of prisoners, who ranged from common criminals to hundreds of thousands of ordinary men and women including Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, who both contravened colonial and apartheid legislation.

Constitution Hill museum is not only a monumental heritage site for South Africa, but also is the new home of the most notorious underground music and fashion movement: DFRNT.

DFRNT will be held on 7 February at Constitution Hill from 8pm.

This event will not only showcase the trendiest in street fashion, music and culture, but will also be the place for the Prison Yard Block Party.

The line up includes 5fm DJ’s Vato Kayde and Chrizz Beatz, as well as Vimo, DJ Doowap and many other hot music names in South Africa.

The look for the event is strictly monochromatic, so show up in your sickest black and white get-up for a prison yard block party like no other.
