Passenger to wow Joburg on the night of love
ZOO LAKE- Folk rock fans are in for a treat this Valentine’s Day as Passenger, a platinum selling British folk musician, is set to soothe Joburg’s soul on 14 February.
Passenger makes his way to South Africa for the first time after sell out concerts in Europe, Australia and New Zealand on his Whisper’s tour.
“I’ve never played a gig anywhere in Africa before and I can’t tell you how excited I am,” said the singer on the event’s Facebook page.
Michael David Rosenberg, the man behind Passenger has been performing since the age of 16. He used to be the main vocalist and songwriter of the band Passenger which eventually dissolved in 2009.
After the break up, Rosenberg held onto the name and began busking. He took his act to Australia and made his broke through after his performance at One Movement, a Perth music festival.
Last year Passenger’s Whispers album topped the US Folk Albums chart, peaked at number five on the UK Albums OCC and reached numbers two and three in Australia and New Zealand respectfully.
Michael Lowman, a Durbanite nominated for the South African Music Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album for his debut release Crayon Boxes, will be opening the show for Passenger at the Zoo Lake this valentine’s day.
