Heidi on show at the National Children’s Theatre
PARKTOWN - The National Children's Theatre will host the play Heidi from 9 March to 12 April.
Heidi is about a little orphan Swiss girl and will entertain children and their parents during the Easter holidays.
Audiences will follow with delight Heidi’s adventures from the time she arrives in the Swiss Alps to live with her grandfather.
Written by children’s author Johanna Spyri in 1881, the book is one of the most-loved children’s stories of all time.
It has been translated into 40 languages.
“No child should grow up without having seen Heidi come to life,” said Moira Katz CEO of the National Children’s Theatre.
“Its message resonates with all South African children. It’s about the power of love, about conquering hardships, and about caring and sharing. It’s about having a positive attitude in spite of adversity. Even though it’s a story about a little Swiss girl who grew up in the Alps a hundred years ago, it’s both timeless and topical,” she added.
The performance promises to be a fun-filled adventure with thrills and spills, beautiful music, audience participation, laughter and a few tears.
Plays run from Mondays to Saturdays during school term and Tuesdays to Sundays during school holidays.
