It’s all about the Bare Necessities

PARKTOWN - School holidays are coming up and some parents may still be clueless as to how to keep the little ones busy.

Well, the People’s Theatre invites you to come get wild with Mowgli and company these holidays.

The curtain has just gone up on the Peoples Theatre’s production of Disney’s The Jungle Book, and this is one show no one should miss.

This all-time children’s classic is directed by the award-winning duo of Keith Smith and Jill Girard, who has just been nominated for the Naledi Awards for Best Production of a Play or Musical for Young Audiences Supported by ASSITEJ South Africa for Disney’s My Son Pinocchio Jr.

It’s all about bringing the Bare Necessities of life to the People’s Theatre audience in Braamfontein.

Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids continues the tradition of offering quality shows for theatre lovers both young and old, who will be entranced by the magic of Rudyard Kipling’s classic story.

The little boy named Mowgli and his host of animal friends in the jungle have been a hit with children since the stories were published in 1893.

Resident set designer Grant Knottenbelt has added some dramatic additions to Marius Boshoff’s original spectacular Jungle set – a visual treat that guarantees excitement from start to finish.

Smith does all the musical staging, and Linda Wilson has ensured that the costumes will bring the characters to life in every way.

So forget about your worries and your strife and come and meet all Mowgli’s unforgettable friends in this colourful production.

Sing and dance along while Mowgli learns valuable life lessons on his journey to the man village, where he belongs.
