It’s all about interpretation
PARKHURST- Halifax art exhibits Claudia Shneider's works of art.
Recently, artist Claudia Schneider presented and discussed the artworks in her exhibition titled Don’t Miss at Halifax Art, a Johannesburg-based visual art agency specialising in contemporary art.
“My art is made out of anything that I have and poses the big questions that society is already asking – that is what can be seen in my works. Really, art is just beautiful because people can interpret it differently in terms of what they may be feeling,” explained Schneider.
The artist obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Stellenbosch and lives in Berlin but commutes between South Africa and other countries for her work.
“One has to look closely at her pieces so as to not miss some important aspects that may change the bigger picture and how it may be interpreted. You may also find a subtle bit of humour in some pieces if you look closely,” said Dana Macfarlane, a dealer at Halifax Art.
Dawid Ras, the opening speaker for the exhibition, explained that Schneider’s art pieces are very different because, at first glance, the whole picture is not seen. “Upon looking again, you might see that it’s not just some colour spread across the page, but there is a figure in the picture too.”
The exhibition will be on show until 7 September at Halifax Art, 35a 4th Avenue, Parkhurst.
