WATCH: Camilla takes the US by storm
JOBURG - A young girl who grew up in the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg has taken the world by storm with her multiple talents.
A former pupil of King David High School Victory Park, Camilla Crawford, grew up in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg and is taking the world by storm with her many talents.
Crawford left South Africa for the United States of America after finishing her matric at the age of 18. She discovered her talent at a young age and spent nearly all her hours after school perfecting her operatic, acting and dancing skills.
The talented star started her classical vocal training at the June Kraus Academy, a prestigious singing academy dedicated to training classical and non-classical singers, under the guidance of internationally-renowned opera singer June Kraus.
Crawford received a maximum talent scholarship at the Applause Rising Talent Showcase, a convention dedicated to providing artists with the opportunity to perform in front of both American and international agents, managers and casting directors.

The rising starlet said it has not been an easy journey for her as she had to leave home when she was young and settle in a foreign country without her parents. “This journey has not been an easy one. Coming to New York alone as an 18-year-old was a life lesson. I had to grow up incredibly quickly,” she said.
Crawford added that she feels both excited and slightly afraid of what’s to come, as it sometimes gets overwhelming.
“I never dreamed it would be possible for a young South African to get as far as I have in my field. I hope to continue rising in my international career and anything is possible from now on.”
Crawford also featured as the lead in the acclaimed short film Opening Doors and has also participated in various college showcases.
Rozanne Unterslak, Camilla’s mother, was delighted with the progress her daughter has made over the years, but admitted that it was not easy to let her go at an early age. “I always encouraged Camilla to believe in herself and pursue her dreams. It was hard to let her go overseas when she was so young, but it has been an exciting journey and I look forward to all her future successes,” she said.
