Local musician is going international

JOHANNESBURG – Toya Delazy will be participating in the second and final round of the Midem Artist Accelerator 2016, set to take place from 3 to 6 June in Cannes, France.

The 50th annual Midem Music Accelerator is part of the Midem Music Conference and is an exclusive programme for artists and their entourages. It was designed to support managers, agents, labels and publishers as they look to grow their artists’ profiles globally.

The 50th annual Midem Music Conference will give emerging talent the chance to play a live set at the conference and have their song featured on Midem’s communications, as well as on the Midem Artist Accelerator Official Compilation.

The multiple award-winning and BET-Award nominee took to Twitter to share her exciting news and has been bombarded with congratulations and support from her adoring fans.

Delazy was shortlisted from numerous applications across the globe. “To have reached this far in the selection process is already such an honour. The Midem Music Conference is held in such high esteem across the global music industry and it’s any artist’s dream to be recognised by this platform,” Delazy said.

The announcement comes shortly after she recently won Best International Song at the Out Music Awards in New York in January for her Forbidden Fruit song, and also reached number 6 on the UK Urban Charts for her single, Luv My City, this past December. Her international recognition has played a crucial part in getting her this far along the Midem Artist Accelerator selection process.

She also recently debuted her first single with new all-female rap crew, Klutch Kollective, titled, Back To The Roots.
