Social media reacts to #BlackCoffee assaulting #AKA’s road manager

POLOKWANE – Altercation ensues between Black Coffee and AKA's road manager.

DStv’s iRock Festival in Polokwane set social media alight after an altercation took place between famed DJ, Black Coffee and the road manager of The SupaMega, rapper AKA.

A video captured by online magazine, Zkhiphani, showed a heated conversation between Black Coffee and AKA’s road manager, Tshiamo Letshwene, during which Black Coffee assaulted Letshwene, who did not retaliate.

It’s been reported by Vth Season Talent and Entertainment Marketing Agency, organisers of the music festival, that the disagreement ensued regarding the time slots of the performers. “We are very surprised and disappointed to hear of the violent reaction by Black Coffee towards Tshiamo, which was unexpected and unwarranted. AKA was not late for his performance at the DStv iRock Festival in Limpopo, as media and event-goers have reported,” the agency noted in a public statement.

AKA was spotted backstage after the altercation, in another Zkhiphani video, shoving staff and getting aggressive in an alleged attempt to defend Letshwene.

Letshwene has been commended by event organisers and the public for not retaliating.

Black Coffee later apologised for his actions and told his fans, “I am really, really sorry. I’m not that dude.”

AKA took to Twitter yesterday to voice his opinion on the situation, telling his Twitter followers that he had no reason to be involved. “After all, I’m not the person who was assaulted. Nobody put hands on me. I’m just going to have to let it fly, and focus,” he tweeted. Letshwene is yet to comment on Black Coffee’s apology.
