Did Riky Rick buy a polar bear?

JOBURG – Riky Rick makes Twitter play the guessing game.

Rappers are known to go above and beyond with their expenses in the ‘Balling Olympics’ and Riky Rick has just set the bar high for everyone participating in the game.

Fresh off an announcement detailing a new record label, Cotton Club Records, and a deal with Sony Music, Riky Rick also hosted a one-day-only pop-up store at RHTC Playground Store in Braamfontein on Saturday, 24 February.

The one-day pop-up saw Riky Rick fans come out in their numbers to get a chance to meet the rapper and get a range of T-shirts and caps. Not only were the queues really long but there was a buzz that made people stop and look.

Riky Rick has surely mastered ways to get fans talking. Throughout the week, the rapper had people on Twitter guessing which animal was in a box with the words ‘live animal specimen’. Not only were the guesses hilarious but they added a whole lot of eagerness.

After a lot of funny and incorrect guesses, Riky Rick finally revealed that it was a polar bear in the box and even asked for some help naming her. However, before people could come up with suggestions, #TwitterCSI and #BlackTwitter were already investigating the authenticity of the picture.

Riky Rick later posted a video that revealed that the picture was, in fact, a part of Castle Lite’s bid in creating awareness on the effects of global warming on the polar caps on #PolarBearDay, an annual event celebrated every February 27 to raise awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear.
