NEWTOWN – Memorable moments from Africa's biggest hip-hop festival.
A forerunner in hip-hop and youth culture, Back to the City continuously solidifies itself as Africa’s biggest hip-hop festival and this year’s edition was no different as Joburgers were gifted with the biggest form of freedom – freedom of expression.

Celebrating 12 years of freedom, this year’s theme ‘Freedom of Self’ was evident throughout the festival, from the performances, fashion, graffiti and Joburgers having a good time celebrating youth culture in all its splendour.

Hosted at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, the Freedom Day audience was gripped by powerful performances from an endless list that featured international act, Pharoahe Monch, South Africa’s hip-hop heavyweights – Stogie T, AKA, Cassper Nyovest, K.O, as well as rising stars such as Nadia Nakai, Shane Eagle, and Priddy Ugly.
