ALEXANDRA – Local gospel music star on the rise.

A 20-year-old upcoming gospel artist from Tsutsumani Ext 7, Thapelo Tau has finally released his first album.

His album, Believe, features seven original tracks, six of which he composed himself. Track three was composed by his father Marks Tau and his brother Karabo Tau.

Thapelo, who began writing his songs in 2015 and recorded them in 2016, said his music does not only praise and entertain but also heals the broken soul.

“My music does not cater for a single certain group of gospel lovers, it is a combination of African and contemporary gospel, which makes it easier for everyone to relate to it. I sing about my life experiences and challenges that most people in our society go through.”

Tau worked with a number of well-known gospel music artist, including Dr Tumi and Lucas Maloma, to create this album. He said that his song, Ke Tjere Jeso (meaning I received Jesus), has received positive reaction from his music fans and the most airplay by several radio stations.

The humble Tshwane University of Technology electrical engineering graduate and lecturer at Johannesburg Central College said he wanted to release his album long ago but his parents told him to complete his degree first.

Thapelo added, “God spoke to me to release this album for His Glory and I wanted to release it while I was in high school, and when I was doing my second year at university.

“I wanted to drop out to pursue my calling, but my parents refused. They advised me to complete my degree in electrical engineering first, so I did that. “After completing my degree in 2016 I carried on with the mandate that God has placed in my heart.”

In his quest to reach his music lovers and heal the wounded, Tau is currently touring different places in the country and beyond its borders to preach the gospel through his album, which is now available in stores nationwide.
