Hyde Park High’s matrics overcome ‘difficult’ year
HYDE PARK – The final results included 93 bachelor’s passes, 18 diplomas and four higher certificates.
It was all smiles at Hyde Park High School on January 19 as the matriculating Class of 2021 collected their statement of results.
The school, which is the only government school to offer the IEB exam, recorded a 96% pass rate and a total of 93 distinctions.

According to Grade 12 head Terri Triebel, the final results included 93 bachelor’s passes, 18 diplomas and four higher certificates.
“The Hyde Park High School staff are thrilled with achieving these results in what was a very difficult year for the school, having faced closure due to an outbreak of Covid-19 amongst staff and learners,” said Triebel.
The top achiever spot went to Rivaan Ramdass with seven distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, informal technology, life orientation, mathematics and physics.
Rivaan is set to study actuarial science this year.

In joint second were Bontsi Pitsoe and Justine Govender.
Bontsi achieved six distinctions in Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life science and mathematics. She will be studying medicine.
Justine achieved five distinctions in accounting, geography, life orientation, mathematics and physics. She will be studying accounting.
