SA Ladies Indoor Cricket takes on 48-hour challenge in Sandton for a good cause
The South African Ladies Masters Indoor Cricket team took on a 48-hour challenge of around the clock cricket to raise funds for the cup while also helping the community.
The South African Ladies Masters Indoor Cricket team recently took on a 48-hour challenge to raise funds ahead of the Masters World Cup.
According to coach Marco Piacentini, while the world cup is only in two years’ time, the team chose to switch up their fundraising methods.
“These amazing ladies have decided to change things up a little and do an annual fundraiser that will incorporate finding a good cause to support, and split whatever amount they raise 50/50 with said cause.”

The team invited several local teams and non-profit organisations, such as the Balloon Foundation and Johannesburg Children’s Home, for around-the-clock matches at the Sandton Action Sports arena.
“They firmly believe that getting South African colours doesn’t only mean representing on the sports field but off it too, by giving back in their communities and to those less fortunate,” said Piacentini.
Kicking off the challenge, the South African Ladies Masters Indoor Cricket team took on a few young men from the Balloon Foundation.

According to team member Talita Wiegand, the boys caught onto the game quite quickly making for a fun first game.
More than 30 matches were played over the three-day challenge.
