Hyde Park Corner saw thousands of cyclists pass by in the 947 Ride Joburg

Locals in Hyde Park enjoyed the day filled with cheers and applause, while the cyclists passed by.

The streets of Johannesburg were alive with energy on November 17, as thousands of cyclists took part in the prestigious 947 Ride Joburg.
With a prize purse of R200 000 for the top male and female finishers, the event attracted more than 12500 riders, from elite athletes to enthusiastic amateurs.

Cyclists push hard up the hill.

The race featured two main routes, 35km and 97km, offering participants the unique opportunity to race through Johannesburg’s iconic landmarks, including the Nelson Mandela Bridge, Zoo Lake, and Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

The event’s highlight was the full road closures, allowing cyclists to race freely through normally bustling city streets in a safe and controlled environment.
