“These results are a direct result of my consistent hard work throughout the year,” she said.
Grace admitted she was a confessed perfectionist when it came to her studies, and she found a way to manage her academic workload while also thriving in extracurricular activities.
“As deputy head girl, I led with responsibility and engaged in various school events, while also captaining both the first team swimming and hockey teams. Being involved in all these activities made my matric year unforgettable.”
Grace said her academic success came in a range of subjects, including history, life sciences, accounting, and further studies in English.

“I found history particularly rewarding as I genuinely enjoyed the content I was learning and was, therefore, able to succeed in all areas of its syllabus. Throughout high school, I had always found mathematics to be the more challenging subject for me, but by matric, I was more confident in my mathematical ability and was ecstatic to have achieved a distinction for it, with it also being my highest mark for the year.”
She pointed out that she focused on more than just academics.
“I made time for exercise, my social life, and prioritising my emotional well-being. This balance helped me stay focused and motivated.”
Looking toward her future, Grace is excited to start her next chapter at Stellenbosch University, where she plans to study for a Bachelor of Commerce in Law.
“Receiving these results has given me even more confidence in my ability to achieve my goals. I am excited for the next step in my journey.”
She encouraged the Class of 2025 to work hard, advising them to fully embrace their matric year and to stay grounded.
“Matric can be tough but it is also an opportunity to grow and mature. Do not let the pressure overwhelm you, use it as motivation to push yourself forward.”
