Malik Rapetsoa to represent IIE Varsity College in the Human Rights Moot Competition

Malik Kamogelo Rapetsoa earns top honours to compete among 183 African tertiary institutions in a renowned human rights law event at the University of Cape Town.

IIE Varsity College Sandton Campus fourth-year Bachelor of Laws student, Malik Kamogelo Rapetsoa has been selected to represent the institution at the 34th Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition.

The prestigious event will take place at the University of Cape Town from June 29 to July 5.

Rapetsoa secured his spot in this esteemed competition after achieving the highest score in the national Moot Court competition for fourth-year law students among the IIE Varsity College campuses in Sandton, Pretoria, and Durban North, as well as IIE MSA, formerly known as Monash South Africa.

The competition simulates proceedings before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, attracting law students, academics, and judges from across the continent.

Every year, the competition sees participation from more than 183 tertiary education institutions, making it a significant event in African legal education.

Expressing his excitement about this opportunity, Rapetsoa said, “I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the combined IIE Varsity College and IIE MSA Moot Court Competition, and I am incredibly excited and honoured to represent IIE Varsity College’s Faculty of Law at the Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Cape Town.
