Just one day left: Rand Water maintenance starts on June 3
Residents are urged to prepare now for significant water pressure reductions as Rand Water’s scheduled maintenance kicks off.
With just one day to go, residents in parts of Johannesburg are being reminded to prepare for a major maintenance operation by Rand Water, which begins tomorrow, June 3. During this period, water pumping will be reduced by 67%, leading to anticipated low water pressure across several systems.

The affected areas include the Sandton system, Midrand, Linksfield reservoir, South Hills tower, Randjieslaagte reservoir, and Alexander Park reservoir. City officials warn that, as a result of the reduced flow, residents may experience decreased water pressure, especially in higher-lying areas.
It’s crucial for households and businesses to make necessary arrangements ahead of time. Water conservation is advised, along with filling containers and storing sufficient supplies for at least the duration of the maintenance period. Although low water pressure can be inconvenient, these precautions will help minimise disruption.

Rand Water has emphasised that the maintenance is essential for system improvements and to ensure continued water security in the future. They advise residents to stay informed and monitor official updates throughout the process.
City officials are also urging residents to stay vigilant and report any prolonged outages or issues. The upcoming maintenance serves as a reminder for everyone to be prepared and to act now, before the work begins.
