Bumpy ride on 9th Road, even though potholes were repaired

JRA has patched up the potholes on 9th Road in Kew, but drivers say the surface is still far from smooth.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has followed through on its commitment to repair dangerous potholes along 9th Road in Kew, but while the holes have been filled, the road is still far from smooth.

The repairs, which began after work on nearby 10th Road was completed earlier this month, have drawn mixed reactions from residents and motorists.

Many agree that the large craters that once made the stretch nearly unmanageable are now gone, however, some say the patching work has left the road uneven and still uncomfortable to drive.

“It’s better than before, but still feels like you are driving over lumps and dips. It’s not what I call a proper fix,” said Anele Dube.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, JRA’s operations manager for marketing and communications, previously told Sandton Chronicle that the delay in fixing 9th Road was due to resource constraints, and that the agency is working to improve road conditions as quickly as possible.
