Bringing light and hope to the forgotten
Soraya Christians hopes to inspire incarcerated women to live with dignity, courage, and compassion.
In a society that often looks away from the incarcerated, Soraya Christians runs toward them, armed with faith, compassion, and an unwavering belief in second chances.

“So many inmates are alone, abandoned, and rejected by their families,” Christians said. “Me showing up is the only hope that gives them strength to keep showing up for themselves.”
She explained that her journey into prison ministry began with fear and uncertainty. Her first visit, she was alone, only having the comfort of God by her side. Yet she remembers the smiles, hugs, tears, and hope on the faces of the inmates who asked her to return.
Since then, she’s made it her mission to be more than a visitor. “I listen to their stories, pray with them, and help them navigate some of their darkest moments.”
Christians pointed out that the work she does, it’s not about titles or recognition; it’s about presence. “Forgiveness is the key to an open channel with God, and faith moves mountains. I have been trusting God for employment, but this has been so rewarding and priceless.”
She recalls the story of a woman who found Jesus in prison and was released early for good behaviour. More recently, she prayed with a foreign inmate whose case had been stalled for months, only to learn, days later, that her attorney had finally appeared and she was going home.
