Pretty Woman: The Musical set to dazzle Johannesburg after Cape Town success
A beloved ‘90s romance comes to life on stage as Pretty Woman: The Musical prepares for its Johannesburg run following a celebrated Cape Town season.
The waiting is almost over. Pretty Women: The Musical opens at Johannesburg’s Montecasino Teatro from April 24 to May 31.
Following a successful run at Artscape in Cape Town, the production has already been met with enthusiastic audiences. Now, the much-loved story is heading to Johannesburg, giving local theatre lovers the chance to experience the magic live.

The classic 90s story, made famous by the film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, premiered as a stage musical on Broadway in 2018 and has since enjoyed acclaimed runs in the West End as well as tours across North America and Europe.

“The wait is almost over, and our brilliant company is ready to bring this amazing show to South African audiences. I’m so excited to see how Cape Town and Johannesburg musical theatre fans will react – it’s going to be so special to watch,” said Hazel Feldman of Showtime Management.
Pretty Women: The Musical features a remarkable all-South African cast, including recently announced winners at the Naledi Theatre Awards. Among them are Leah Mari, who stars as the vivacious Vivian Ward, and Daniel Conradie, who plays the sleazy Philip Stuckey.
Mari won Best Lead Performance in a Musical Theatre Production: Female for her role in My Fair Lady, while Conradie received the Best Breakthrough Performance award for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The musical tells the story of the unlikely romance between the rough-edged Vivian and the refined businessman Edward. It is an uplifting production filled with love, laughter, and nostalgia, paired with toe-tapping songs that create a joyful experience for audiences.
The show’s music, written by rock superstar Bryan Adams and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance, includes powerful solos such as Freedom and I Can’t Go Back, alongside showstopping ensemble numbers like Welcome to Hollywood and Together Forever.

The score delivers a dynamic and emotionally charged soundtrack that captures the romance, glamour, and energy of the story.
Special ticket offers are also available for theatre-goers. The Terrific Tuesday promotion offers tickets ranging from R200 to R400 (not valid with other discounts). Group bookings are encouraged, whether for families, colleagues, or social groups.
The Bring Your Bestie offer, available on Wednesday and Thursday, allows bookings of four to six tickets at R250 each, unreserved. In addition, a 20 percent block booking discount applies to groups of 20 or more on selected shows and price categories.
