Bryanston residents gathered on September 20 for a community-focused social run aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles while encouraging people to take greater pride in their neighbourhood.

Hosted at Decathlon at the Winnie Mandela Precinct, the social run for a better Bryanston offered participants the choice of a 5km or 10km route, with both running and walking welcome. The free event encouraged residents to bring along their families and friends and enjoy an active morning together.

The initiative was organised by civic organisation Better Bryanston as part of World Clean-up Day, with the group using the occasion to remind residents that creating cleaner and better neighbourhoods is a shared responsibility.

Better Bryanston chairperson Joyce Tshabalala thanked everyone who contributed to making the event possible, particularly the organisation’s team and Decathlon for supporting the initiative. “This day was made possible thanks to the efforts of everybody involved,” Tshabalala said

She encouraged residents to play their part on World Clean-up Day by doing their bit for a cleaner world and suburb.

The event highlighted the role community initiatives can play in bringing residents together, encouraging an active lifestyle and building a stronger sense of responsibility for the neighbourhood.
