Allies merge to empower youngsters

SANDTON - Boston City Campus and loveLife officially announced their partnership to empower and build young leaders.

The announcement was made at the loveLife national offices in Sandton. LoveLife is one of South Africa’s largest national HIV prevention initiatives for young people. The event was attended by various industry influencers, funders, government dignitaries, the media and loveLife personnel.

Craig Stollard, financial director at Boston City Campus said he was thrilled by the merger.

“The issues of social development and youth empowerment are of such paramount importance, and this partnership not only presents an ideal opportunity to give back to the communities who loyally support us, but also helps skill loveLife staff members and loveLife’s young leaders known as groundBREAKERS,” he said.

Stollard said Boston City Campus was a national education provider and would take 200 loveLife groundBREAKERS through training in an accredited business administration qualification at Boston Campuses, while about 150 loveLife staff members were registered for the accredited human resource management qualification.

Grace Matlhape, CEO of loveLife said, “In order for us to continuously grow in the ways we do, to empower and educate young South Africans, we also need to ensure the continuous development of the loveLife team and volunteers.” She added that the partnership with Boston was also a door-opener – both for loveLife staff in their personal capacity and for the young groundBREAKERs for whom the courses will facilitate access to opportunity.

“We really hope that by sponsoring these courses the potential of the loveLife groundBREAKERS and staff who were selected will reach new heights,” said Stollard. “We cannot take the work they do for granted, but should rather find ways to support them and encourage them.”
