A dream come true for Sandton poet
Sandton resident Keorapetse Chakela showed that dreams really can come true with the recent publishing of his book 'Live. Laugh. Love.' in the US.

He was in the States as part of the Workaway International programme which places South Africans in hospitality-focused positions in five-star country clubs in the US.
Chakela has always had a love for hospitality, which is what made him join Workaway International. “My favourite part of being on the programme was to meet new people from all over the world and to be able to develop culturally,” he said.
‘Live. Laugh. Love.’ is a poetry book that details the progression of Chakela’s life, showing how his views on life have changed from negative to positive. He strongly believes in developing one’s skills and always makes time to give back and help others realise their potential.
He now heads up the Sharpeville Foundation Youth Organisation, a non-profit organisation catering for the needs of vulnerable children.
Chakela first joined Workaway International in 2008 and worked as a server assistant at Boca West during his internship with the Swiss Hotel School. He then returned to the programme in 2010 and, while in the US, decided to pursue his passion for literature. He submitted his manuscript and his inspiring and thought-provoking book was published.
Chakela hopes to one day use this expertise to open his own restaurant. His biggest dream, however, is to travel the world and he continues to believe that dreams can come true.
