JRA commits to repair damaged crash barrier
BUCCLEUCH - The Johannesburg Roads Agency has committed to replacing the ruined crash barrier at the intersection of Pretoria Main Road and Woodmead Drive, between Kelvin and Buccleuch.

This after concerned Buccleuch resident, Andrew McMurray told Sandton Chronicle that the barrier was once again damaged following the installation of a new crash barrier just last year by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport.
“The JRA went on-site and removed it,” said Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the roads agency.
“JRA [would] like to apologise to residents and the public for the inconvenience caused by the damaged barrier.”
Last year, the roads agency denied responsibility for the repair of the damaged crash barrier. Peters-Scheepers had said that Old Pretoria Road and Woodmead Drive fell within provincial jurisdiction. Ntsikelelo Ngubeni, also from the roads agency, added earlier this year, that the responsibility lay with the Department of Roads and Transport.
However, on 18 February this year, Peters-Scheepers said that a new barrier would be erected by the roads agency on 27 February.
The roads agency has not said what will be done about other issues in the area. McMurray said other areas of concern at the intersection include street markings which are no longer visible and the streetlights that do not work. Additionally, McMurray said there were no pedestrian robots.
