According to Snyman, he witnesses 10 police officers running into the centre whilst strapping on bulletproof vests and cocking their firearms at 2.25 pm.
Snyman believed that the police were responding to reports of two armed suspects within the centre.
Centre manager of Bryanston Shopping Centre, Richard Alexandra confirmed that the police were on the scene, but denied the claim that there was any major incident at the centre.
He declined to comment further with regards to the nature of the police’s presence at the centre.
A Sandton Police representative said he was not aware of any incident taking place at the centre.
