Sandton Police Station commander, Brigadier Egen Moodley said the conviction is a result of excellent work and is a great achievement for Sandton detectives.
Both of the accused, Gift Stonya Msiska and Joseph Longwe, were found guilty on two counts and both sentenced to life imprisonment for premeditated murder and 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Moodley said, “The Sandton detectives are praised for their tireless efforts and skilled investigation of this case which resulted in the conviction of the perpetrators.”

The Sandton Community Police Forum (CPF) said in a statement, “This incident took place on 7th Street in Parkmore. A gardener was murdered during a house robbery. A Jaguar and various other items were stolen.
The statement said the incident took place on 19 July 2015 and six suspects were arrested in Marlboro and Alexandra on 20 July 2015.
Anthony Modena, chairperson for the Sandton CPF said, “The criminal justice system has ensured that the diligence and effort from the Sandton police trio task team have not gone to waste.
“Thank you to all involved in bringing these heinous criminals to justice.”
