Metro police officers recently found a truck that was hijacked in Midrand with the driver still tied up in the van.
Wayne Minnaar spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department confirmed the incident and said two officers who were informed about the hijacked truck, found the truck in Violet Crescent in Marlboro Gardens.
Minnaar said the driver was fortunately not injured during the incident and was found tied up with rope under the dash of the vehicle.
“The six suspects managed to get away. They were unable to open the vehicle [doors] due to a locking mechanism.”
Captain Granville Meyer, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, confirmed that Metro police officers managed to recover the hijacked truck.
“The cellular phone stock worth millions was still intact in the truck when it was recovered.”
