Passionate swimmer Kapitolina Xaba remains motivated that she will get back in the water to do what she loves.
According to her father Musa, the Crawford Sandton learner began her swimming journey at the age of six at the Rivonia Sports Centre. “In 2018 she joined the junior squad at Haupt Swimming Club in Sandton Virgin Active under the leadership of coaches Liz and Aaron,” he said.
Kapitolina took gold at the club’s awards ceremony earlier this year for the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Her list of accolades grew when she took home a number of awards for her school’s swimming team earlier this year. After only joining the team last year, Crawford awarded Kapitolina the champion swimmer for the U9 and U10 groups.
She also took home the Junior Victrix Ludorum award for the U10 group. “Kapitolina is an excellent pupil at Crawford Sandton,” said Musa.
In her spare time, the young swimmer enjoys more activities apart from just being in the water. “She enjoys swimming, ballet, dancing, and playing music on the piano,” added Musa.
