Bryanston Primary School celebrated another successful round of donations for its ongoing Car Seats for Kids campaign.
The campaign, which kicked off in 2016, saw the school collaborate with Peggie Mars of the Wheel Well non-profit organisation to assist with the collection of used car seats for those in need.
According to the school’s Tania Roman, the campaign has been a success thus far with the help of the families of Bryanston Primary School.
“[Wheel Well’s] work for children in road safety has expanded to include children in public transport and children as pedestrians, therefore the school saw it a necessity to partner with Wheel Well in order to assist in this community outreach project,” she said.
Roman runs the scholar patrol and road safety initiatives at the school which highlight the importance of educating learners about road safety awareness.
She added that while the response thus far had been great, the campaign was looking to reach out to more people to collect as many car seats as possible.
“Due to the pandemic, car seat collections have slowed down over the past few months, therefore we are headstrong in our ventures to find car seat donations from the school body, companies, organisations and the community at large who would like to donate to this worthy cause.”
Roman would like to invite parents to donate their old and unused care seats to the Car Seats for Kids campaign.
These car seats will be refurbished, safety checked and distributed to those in need with the help of Wheel Well.
