Sandton IIE Varsity College teams up with IIE MSA on mentorship programme
A collaboration campaign between Sandton-based university, IIE Varsity College and IIE MSA will empower more children in disadvantaged communities through education.
Representatives of both the IIE Varsity College based in Sandton and IIE MSA have been finalising their collaboration campaign which aims to educate and mentor children from various communities.
According to the communication manager of Varsity College Sarnelia Mandapalli, the name of the campaign, Khumo Programme, is derived from Tswana which translates to ‘wealth’.
“The name is fitting considering the project’s objective is to share the Varsity College and MSA’s wealth of knowledge and resources to contribute towards educating and mentoring young minds,” said Mandapalli.
Mandapalli added the project aimed at empowering local primary and secondary schools in South Africa.
Student services manager at the IIE Varsity College in Sandton Fathima Naidu said, “We believe that when schools and the community work together to support learning, society benefits. This partnership can serve to strengthen, support, and even transform disadvantaged schools.
“We can facilitate access to a range of learning opportunities and developmental supports, providing opportunities for learners and educators to experiment with new approaches to teaching and learning.”
