JMPD fines driver for illegal dumping along Marlboro Drive and N3 off-ramp

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla encourages the public to report illegal dumping via the anti-illegal dumping hotline ont 082 779 1361.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) operations officers found a white GWM bakkie illegally dumping along Marlboro Drive and the N3 off-ramp on September 20.

The driver was issued a fine for illegal dumping. The fines for illegal dumping range between R1 500 and R5 000.

“JMPD has a dedicated team within the By-Laws Management Unit which was established to combat Illegal dumping. This team has been deployed to monitor and put a stop to illegal dumpers and when caught red-handed or traced they are issued a fine,” said JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla.

“We urge residents to report illegal dumpers using the anti-illegal dumping hotline 082 779 1361. We also urge residents to take clear photos of the illegal dumping as well as the number plate of the vehicle and then send these pictures together with the date, time and location of the illegal dumping.”
