One of the longest-running traditions at Bryanston High School saw both parents and staff members smiling wide as the Grade 8 learners were officially welcomed through an induction ceremony.
The ceremony took place at the school’s auditorium on February 25 and celebrated all of the learners’ milestones for making it to high school. Throughout the duration of the evening, learners were tasked to perform some of the school’s traditions, including the reciting of the Bryanston High pledge after finding their seats.

“The induction included the learners having a candle lit to symbolise that the light will burn throughout their stay at the school. It will then be extinguished in their Grade 12 year, symbolising the end of their five-year journey at the school,” said the marketing director of the school, Bronwynne Byrne.
Byrne added that the ceremony was a success from both the turnout of the families who cheered their children on, to keeping the school tradition alive.
“This new journey will come with its share of obstacles, but with the help of their grade controllers, assistant grade controllers, counsellors and educators, they will be ushered through with lots of care and support.”
