A Christmas concert spectacular at Montecasino
Locals are advised to prepare as it is just a few more weeks to go until the Christmas concert spectacular on stage at The Teatro.
As festive season excitement steadily builds up in Joburg, renowned entertainer Jonathan Roxmouth shares a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Swingle Bells: A Christmas Concert Spectacular.
Roxworth will be performing a set of 19 pieces conducted by Adam Howard, along with guest artists Timothy Moloi and Monique Steyn.
The concert will be jingly and merry, with magic coming alive for eight performances from December 15- 24 at The Teatro, Montecasino.
Roxmouth said the Swingle Bells are more than a love letter to Christmas.
“It is a throwback to the golden age of Christmas swing music when Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Bobby Darin were the custodians of Yule Cool. The concept is straightforward: to have the most joy and fun with the music of everyone’s childhood.”
He explains that the most important part of the concert is that the music is live, with no backing tracks in sight.
“19 of South Africa’s finest musicians come together on stage with us vocalists to bring these Christmas songs we all know and love to life. What better way to celebrate with family, friends, and colleagues?”
“In 2020, The Johannesburg Big Band and I headed into Howard Audio Studios to record the 14-track Christmas album Swingle Bells, which was released on CD and downloads, and we are thrilled to now be able to bring these recordings to life in spectacular fashion on the Teatro stage.”
Details: Swingle Bells will be on stage at The Teatro, Montecasino for 8 performances only, spanning two weekends in December; from December 15 – 24.
Performances are Friday at 19:30, Saturday at 14:00 and 19:30, Sunday at 14:00 (including Christmas Eve)
Tickets range from R200 – R310, and bookings are at Webtickets or at Pick ‘n Pay outlets.
Discounts for groups of 10 or more, senior citizens, scholars and students apply.
