There is an allure to witnessing Bailey walking down Bantry Road alongside her owner and best friend Michelle Karsten on an overcast afternoon akin to the one had on February 22.
Karsten and Bailey met two and a half years ago through a pet breeder in the south of Johannesburg.
“She is two-and-a-half years old,” said Karsten of her Toy-Pomeranian companion.
Bailey leads a tranquil, peaceful life in Bryanston – where she has toys enough to keep entertained, and clothes to glam out in with Karsten.
“She’s got silk pyjamas that match mine,” Karsten said.
Bailey carried herself as a dignitary on her walk, head up and taking each stride with grace.
“Her favourite place to go is under the bed when she’s hot,” Karsten continued. “She has a few jerseys; and three baskets of toys.”
From the assortment of life’s treasures – Bailey is refined enough to have a favourite item from her boxes of toys.
“Her carrot is her favourite,” said Karsten. “It’s a soft carrot, a chew toy.”
