The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton cupcake fundraiser raises funds for Diepsloot Primary School’s vegetable garden
Students from IIE’s Varsity College Sandton raised funds for a vegetable garden at Diepsloot Primary by hosting a cupcake sale, part of the KHUMO Project.
The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton’s students recently showcased their creativity while supporting a good cause during the VC Cares cupcake bake sale fundraiser.
The event allowed students to purchase cupcakes and decorate them with their favourite toppings, raising funds for the Diepsloot Primary School vegetable garden as part of the ongoing KHUMO Project.

In total, 80 cupcakes were sold, with proceeds going towards purchasing seeds for the school’s garden.
Anto Kagisho, communications person for The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton, praised the initiative.

“This fundraiser exemplifies our students’ commitment to community development and creating sustainable solutions.”
Vinita Rajkumar, a 2nd year Bachelor of Arts in Law student, shared her excitement: “I enjoyed getting creative with my cupcake and am grateful that the money will go towards the school’s vegetable garden. I’m excited about volunteering with planting the vegetable seeds when the time is right.”
The event not only highlighted the students’ fun spirit but also emphasised their dedication to making a positive impact in neighbouring communities. Through efforts like these, Varsity College continues to inspire change beyond the classroom.
