Watch: City Power targets non-paying clients in Bryanston and Randburg owing R650m

Multi-million Rand homes in Bryanston have their power cut off after non-payment.

City Power rampaged again, cutting off power to non-paying customers across Bryanston and Randburg.

In an ongoing bid to ensure customers pay their outstanding accounts the power entity has more recently geared up their efforts by simply cutting them off.  Multi-million Rand homes in Bryanston saw the clock strike midnight, turning their homes back into proverbial pumpkins facing the dark this evening on October 10.

Some residential properties in Bryanston such as Sloane Street owe over R9 million, an Elgin Road home (R1.2 million), Homestead Avenue (R2.3 million) and Moray Drive (R1.3 million).

City Power representative, Tshepo Rammuki said that the debt owed in Randburg is over R650 million. So far the entity has disconnected multiple homes while some have offered to pay 30% with the remaining balance to be paid in the next three months.

“We are appealing to customers to come forward and make an arrangement to pay their outstanding debts,” said Rammuki.
