67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day Expat Division marks one-year
The event took place at Miele in Bryanston, hosted by the Scoin Shop, with Madiba's own private chef Xoliswa Ndoyiya offering guests a taste of what the former president used to enjoy, along with a look inside the world of a coin collector and viewing unique culinary-themed designer coins.
Hosted by the Scoin Shop and 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day at Miele Bryanston on November 1, the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day Expat Division and The Safari Guys had a wonderful celebration filled with warmth, community, and gratitude as they marked a noteworthy milestone.
Celebrating a year of the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day Expat Division, the members met and enjoyed a morning with Madiba’s private chef Xoliswa Ndoyiya.

Ndoyiya, affectionately known as Sis Xoli, shared more about Mandela and some of his favourite light luncheon recipes, before guests were treated to a private introduction to the world of coin collecting, and were privileged to view some unique culinary-themed designer coins.
Renassh Soman, who heads up new business development at the Scoin Shop, said, “It was a wonderful opportunity to meet Chef Xoli and have the privilege of tasting one of Madiba’s favourite dishes.”
The 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day initiative is a movement that Carolyn Steyn founded 10 years ago to honour Mandela’s legacy.

The 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day campaign takes this idea further by inspiring people to knit or crochet blankets, which are donated to those in need.
The 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day Expat Division represents expatriates from abroad who have joined the campaign, helping to extend Mandela’s legacy, the spirit of Ubuntu, and spreading the message of 67 Blankets worldwide.

Over the past year, the expat division has brought together knitters and crocheters across continents, creating thousands of handmade blankets for charity.
