Bryanston Parkrun thrives despite rain

A strong community vibe and upbeat music make Bryanston Parkrun a standout parkrun.

The Bryanston Parkrun on January 11 was a chilly and fun success, with runners and walkers eager to start the new year on a high note.

Despite ongoing concerns over the persistent rain, Bryanston’s dedicated community turned out in full force, ready to take on the 5km course along the scenic Jukskei River.

At 08:00 sharp, participants set off, with 1 072 finishers crossing the line.

According to Tim Lazarus, a run director at the parkrun, many visitors shared glowing feedback, praising the event as a fantastic run and highlighting the friendly people and great vibe for a Saturday morning.

Lazarus expressed his pride in the event’s smooth operation.

“Our volunteers are the backbone of this event. They work like a well-oiled machine, ensuring the course is set up and the return process is seamless. We also owe a lot to the Bryanston East Community Forum for keeping the park clean and safe for everyone.”

He concluded by stating that with a strong start to 2025, Bryanston Parkrun was looking forward to another year of community spirit and athletic achievement.
