As the new deputy principal, De Lange said his vision is to make Bryanston High School the top educational institution in Johannesburg. “When people see the Bryanston logo, I want it to immediately represent the school of choice. We shouldn’t be a question; we should be the top contender, standing out in our efforts and achievements.”

He added that to realise this vision, he plans to foster greater parental involvement in school activities. “Currently, there’s a sense that parents drop off their children and pick them up later without engagement. We need to change that narrative and create a well-rounded learners.

“We want our students to participate in various activities. Whether it’s sports, drama, or debates. Nurturing, not just academic excellence, but essential life skills as well. When our students are active in these areas, they develop rapport with staff and enjoy a happier school experience.

Reflecting on his approach to educational leadership, De Lange acknowledged the complexity of the role. “Professionalism, sternness, and the ability to connect with others is vital. We need leaders who care deeply about their calling, and I’m committed to leading with that same passion.”
