Ward 109 councillor Lori Coogan confirmed that Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) electricians have reconnected the clinic to both its internal system and Eskom’s distribution box. “The clinic is now operating properly. Steps are also being made to ensure that the generator can take over, should there be a power failure in the future.”
While this is good news, security measures remain unfinished. A fence and gate are being installed around the Eskom infrastructure, to prevent vandalism and illegal connections, and the foundations have already been dug.
Coogan added that she will follow up on payments to ensure smoother communication between the City of Johannesburg and Eskom going forward.
