Update on the Wendywood Clinic power
Wendywood Clinic power restoration still delayed despite payment.
The electricity crisis at Wendywood Clinic continues, even though Eskom has now received payment for the overdue account.
Ward 109 councillor Lori Coogan confirmed on June 26 that the funds had been processed, but further delays are being caused by technical and infrastructure issues.

“Eskom has been paid and has received the funds. They still, however, need to repair the letterbox and what looked like illegal connections. They are currently looking at the scope of work and sourcing the necessary materials.”
The clinic has been without power for several weeks, affecting healthcare delivery and drawing frustration from both residents and staff.
“My concern is how much longer do the residents and the employees at the Wendywood Clinic need to wait?” Coogan said.

She added that she is closely monitoring the situation and may conduct a site visit next week to assess Eskom’s progress.
“We might need to go onsite to see exactly what Eskom are doing to get rid of the illegal connections, and to place the power source for the clinic in a place where it cannot be vandalised again.”
