Brescia House head girl for 2026 is ready to show what leadership is about

Brescia House School’s newly appointed head girl, Thea Holdt, is focused on unity, service, and uplifting those around her in every corner of school life.

At just 17 years old, Thea Holdt is no stranger to hard work, dedication, or the spirit of sisterhood.

Appointed head girl of Brescia House School for 2026, Thea brings not only a strong voice and steady presence to the role; she brings a vision deeply rooted in purpose, empathy, and community.

Her journey at Brescia began in Grade 0, and, over the years, Thea has immersed herself in the life of the school, captaining athletics, performing in drama productions, speaking publicly, and driving matric dance fundraising.

These experiences have shaped her, not only as a leader, but as a young woman determined to make a meaningful impact. “My journey at Brescia has been one of growth, opportunity, and community. It’s given me a strong sense of purpose and pride in being part of something bigger than myself.”

While leadership was not always something she actively pursued, it gradually became a natural extension of her involvement. “I discovered that I enjoy guiding, motivating, and supporting others. The more I stepped into those moments, the more I realised that I want to use my skills to contribute positively to our school community.”

Being named head girl was a proud and humbling moment for Thea, made even more special by the opportunity to serve alongside her two best friends, Kristen Cikes and Adwoa Fosu, who were appointed as deputy head girls.

With the position officially hers, Thea is already setting her sights on her goals for the year ahead. Her immediate focus? Fostering unity within the matric class and creating a ripple effect of positivity and cohesion across the school. “By creating a cohesive and motivated matric class, I hope we can inspire active school participation, as well as an inclusive, supported school culture.”

Her leadership vision also includes creating mentorship opportunities for younger students, offering them not only support but a sense of belonging. “I’d love to organise informal meetups, or study groups, and just be available as someone they can turn to when they’re navigating school life.”

At the core of her approach is a firm belief in collaboration, both with her peers and the staff who guide them. “I plan to work closely with both my peers and teachers by maintaining open and respectful communication. I want everyone to feel involved in the process.”

Underpinning everything Thea stands for is Brescia’s motto: Serviam, I will Serve, a principle she takes to heart. “To me, Serviam means putting the needs of others before my own, and using my strengths to make a meaningful difference. It’s about leading with humility, showing up for others, and taking responsibility.”

Thea is not just focused on the present; she’s already thinking about the impact she hopes to leave behind. “When my term is over, I hope to leave a legacy of unity, service, and respect. I want to know that the work we started will continue to grow and benefit the school, long after we’ve stepped down.”
