Brescia House School looks ahead to 60th anniversary
As Brescia House School approaches its 60th milestone, the school reflects on a year of academic achievements, innovation, and service, while preparing to celebrate six decades of Ursuline heritage and global engagement.
As 2025 draws to a close, Brescia House School celebrates a year of remarkable achievements while looking forward to a historic milestone, its 60th anniversary in 2026.
From its humble beginnings in 1966 with just over 100 learners, Brescia House has grown into one of South Africa’s leading independent girls’ schools, nurturing generations of confident, capable, and compassionate young women.

The Class of 2024 achieved a 100% matric pass rate, with every student gaining university entrance, a testament to the dedication of both learners and staff. The school also officially opened its new multi-purpose AstroTurf, enhancing sporting and community programmes.
For the 12th consecutive year, Brescia House was recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School, joining a global network of innovative institutions that redefine teaching, learning, and assessment in the 21st century.
Brescia House High School head, Loredana Borello, reflected, “The spirit of service remains at the heart of Brescia House. From the Cansa Shavathon to Mandela Day initiatives and outreach programmes, our students continue to embody our motto, Serviam – ‘I will serve.’ These values will guide us as we celebrate six decades of education and service next year.”

The 60th anniversary celebrations will include hosting learners from Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, USA, as part of the school’s Global Education Programme, with Brescia learners reciprocating the visit in April 2026.
Deborah Zambon, head of Brescia House Primary School, added, “This milestone is an opportunity to honour our Ursuline heritage while embracing innovation and purpose.
Our Brescia family, students, staff, and alumnae have nurtured a spirit that continues to thrive in every new initiative and act of service. We look forward to celebrating together in the year ahead.”
Reflecting on the school’s enduring ethos, the heads noted that the true spirit of Brescia House lies not in buildings but in its community, where every generation contributes to a culture of learning, compassion, and service.
As the school approaches its 60th year, the leadership extends warm festive wishes to all members of the Brescia House family and expresses gratitude for the shared journey.
