Parkmore Community Association eyes safer 2026

From road safety upgrades to community engagement and sustainability projects, the Parkmore Community Association is ready to build on 2025’s successes and involve residents in creating a vibrant, thriving suburb.

As residents of Parkmore welcome the new year, the Parkmore Community Association (PCA) is reflecting on a successful 2025 while laying out exciting plans for 2026.

The suburb manager, Lori Klein, said, “Last year, our community truly came together. From our safe and joyful Halloween celebration to the Stop Street road marking initiative, it was a year defined by collaboration and care for our neighbourhood. I would also like to thank Umsebenzi Pothole Patrol, who are assisting us with road markings.”

The Stop Street programme, which painted clearer stop markings at key intersections, has already improved traffic safety and pedestrian visibility, particularly benefiting children and the elderly.

Klein added that maintaining the visibility of these markings is a priority, with ongoing community involvement encouraged through the Adopt-a-STOP-Street programme.

Security has also been a highlight of 2025. Klein praises the partnership with 24-7 Security, which has helped keep crime minimal in the suburb.

“Their presence, quick response, and proactive engagement, together with vigilant residents, have made Parkmore one of Johannesburg’s safest communities,” she said.

Looking ahead, the PCA is focusing on expanding community engagement, improving public spaces, and continuing investment in infrastructure and safety measures. Sustainability initiatives are also on the horizon, with residents encouraged to participate in shaping the future of the suburb.

“2026 is about growth while maintaining the strong sense of community that makes Parkmore unique. We want everyone to feel involved and empowered to help shape our shared space.”

As we enter 2026, Klein extends her warm wishes.

“Thank you to all our residents for your support and care. Let’s continue to look out for one another and make 2026 an even better year for Parkmore.”
