Curro Rivonia secures second place at thrilling home gala
Curro Rivonia powered their way to a second-place finish at a competitive yet friendly interschool swimming gala.
Curro Rivonia made a splash on February 27 as the school hosted a vibrant interschool swimming gala against De La Salle Holy Cross College and Knights Preparatory School.
The event brought together talented young swimmers for an afternoon of competitive racing marked by enthusiasm, determination and camaraderie.

The gala proved to be a closely contested affair, with De La Salle Holy Cross College securing first place overall.

Curro Rivonia delivered an impressive performance to claim second position, while Knights Preparatory School finished third.
Despite the competitive nature of the event, the atmosphere remained positive and encouraging throughout. Swimmers from all three schools demonstrated not only their athletic ability but also a strong sense of sportsmanship and mutual respect.
Curro Rivonia swimming coach Cara van Achterbergh expressed pride in her team’s efforts and the spirit in which the gala was conducted.

“The gala was a scheduled interschool event, but it was held in a very positive and friendly spirit. While the swimmers competed seriously and gave their best, the focus remained on participation, development and good sportsmanship between the schools,” she said.

Van Achterbergh praised her team’s unity and determination in the pool.
“We are very pleased with our team’s performance. Our swimmers showed great determination, supported one another well and represented Curro Rivonia with pride. The second-place result reflects their hard work and commitment, and we are very proud of our boys and girls.”
