Benmore Centre Plays it Forward at the Montrose Night Challenge
Sandton, Johannesburg – 28 February 2026 - Netball and cricket teams from local schools brought their A-game to the Montrose Night Challenge, an exciting sporting event celebrating youth talent, teamwork and community spirit.

As part of its ongoing commitment to youth development and community upliftment, Benmore Centre proudly sponsored six development teams participating in the tournament. The sponsorship provided essential resources to ensure that young athletes could compete with confidence and pride.
Benmore Centre’s support included branded team kits, safe transport to and from the games, meals for players, shorts, socks and essential sporting gear. The sponsorship supported Under-11 and Under-13 cricket and netball teams, helping to remove barriers to participation while encouraging young players to pursue their passion for sport.

The Montrose Night Challenge is a well-established and culturally inclusive sporting event that brings together schools from across the region, attracting more than 25 000 spectators annually. The tournament features 20 schools and 46 teams, creating a vibrant platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.

The event is endorsed by Cricket South Africa and Lions Cricket, further reinforcing its role in developing grassroots talent. Matches are also live streamed through CricClubs, allowing families, supporters and the broader community to follow the action and celebrate the achievements of these young players.

“Supporting initiatives like the Montrose Night Challenge reflects Benmore Centre’s dedication to empowering young people and strengthening our community,” said Nicolette McGregor, Centre Manager at Benmore Centre.

“We believe that investing in youth sport not only nurtures talent but also builds confidence, teamwork and leadership in the next generation.”
